You might think you haven't heard about the Martingale betting system, but you probably have.
The Martingale betting system is a betting system that's designed for bets that are close to 50% chances of winning. Therefore, out of the casino's catalog, Blackjack and Roulette are more fitting.
This system works by doubling your bet every time you lose, until you win. Once you win, you've covered all losses and gained the initial bet. While this may seem like a great betting system, it has some inherent flaws that are very hard to ignore.
When it first became popular in the 17th century, casinos were quick to see that this is a big threat to their revenue. In turn, they have incorporated table limit so that players with losing streaks will get stuck.
It may seem like it isn't all that bad, but consider a table with a $10 minimum and a $200 maximum – all it takes is 5 consecutive losses and your stuck. 5 consecutive losses is more than likely when playing through a power session.
This betting system works great if you win often enough, but again, a losing streak can be decimating to your bankroll. Even if the table limit was $500, all it would was one more loss and your capped again. At this point, you'd be putting down sums you weren't even considering when you first started out with that $10 minimum bet.
The Martingale betting system is one of the most well known betting system, even if not by name. However, it is known primarily due to its easy nature and not for its effectiveness. This betting system should be avoided as it will usually cause players more grief than good.
